Thats it.

The time taken to send my resume was less than a minute:

I think you must, and absolutely must register.
There could be times when you are given an email address and this could ensure you can send out your resume immediately.

I do have some suggestions for the team at cynosurejobs.com

1. Multiple resumes - How do I create multiple resumes & send them out?
2. Multiple Cover letters - customized to the individual or the position
3. Format of resume - I generally like to send out my profile in pdf format. the service only offers doc.

NEWS| CCI gets tough, issues notice to Kingfisher-Jet

Government watchdog Competition Commission of India (CCI) has issued notices to the biggest domestic private airlines — Jet and Kingfisher — over the allegedly monopolistic alliance the two entered into last year. Asserting that ‘‘prima facie a case exists’’, CCI has sought details of Vijay Mallya and Naresh Goyal’s operational tie-up that could prevent a level playing field for other carriers.

the story continues below>

According to latest DGCA figures, Jet, JetLite and Kingfisher have nearly 50% market share of domestic air traffic. ‘‘It has been alleged that the alliance may result in cartelisation, which may have an appreciable adverse affect on competition... It has further been alleged that the two airlines have a bulk market share as well as airport slots, undermining the ability of other players to compete on a level playing field and are abusing their dominant positions by coordinating increase in passengers fares, increase in fuel surcharge, charging fuel surcharge at a fixed rate irrespective of distance,’’ the CCI notice says.

NEWS| Mumbai airport lacks radar to track planes on runway

What causes frequent near-misses at Mumbai airport? Probably, it's the absence of surface movement radars which keep track of aircraft and vehicles on runway.
Aviation experts say the surface movement radars are crucial for getting real-time picture of aircraft and vehicles on runway, especially during low-visibility and night. However, only Delhi airport has installed these radars in the country.

the story continues below>

A civil aviation ministry official said these radars are crucial for safety at the Mumbai airport, which handles more than 700 flights daily. And the equipment is "most needed now" because of the "cross runway operation" at Mumbai.
Sources told DNA that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is likely to tell the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Mumbai International Airport Limited (Mial) to install the equipment as soon as possible.
In a meeting held in Delhi on Wednesday, DGCA officials pointed out the absence of surface movement radars at Mumbai to the civil aviation ministry.
Sources said ideally the AAI and Mial should have worked out a plan to get the radars installed.
On Sunday, two planes came extremely close mid-air as one of the pilots had taken off without the permission of air traffic control at the Mumbai airport. In last eight months, three near-misses have occurred in Mumbai.

NEWS| Flying may pinch 5-10% more from October onwards

Domestic airlines are considering a 5-10% increase in fares in the October-December quarter in view of rising prices of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) and to take advantage of peak season traffic.

the story continues below>

ATF or jet fuel prices in the domestic market have gone up by 50% from the lows of the last quarter of 2008-09 (January-March). But airlines have not been able to pass additional costs on to passengers because of declining traffic.
With passenger numbers increasing -- July saw a year-on-year jump of 21.3% -- carriers are seriously considering increasing fares in the coming quarter.
A senior executive of a low-cost airline said this was the only way to prop up yields -- net revenue per seat -- which have taken a severe beating from intense competition.
"We have no option but to hike ticket prices by 5-10% if we want to avoid sinking deeper into losses. This quarter has seen fierce fare wars that made us change our pricing strategy to be at par with competition," he said. The official said fares will be hiked across all sectors. His airline has, however, not decided whether to hike the fuel surcharge, basic fares or both.
Jitendra Bhargava, executive director, Air India, too, said fares will go up, but didn't specify by how much. "While there are no immediate plans, we will look into this closer to the festive season," he said. A senior executive of another full-service carrier said his airline would push up fares gradually to avoid a disruption in its seat-load factor.

TRENDS| Airline industry sees pain extending beyond the recession

The industry has yet to recover from an across-the-board revenue drop that followed the 2001 terrorist attacks. If thrifty consumers and cost-cutting businesses are this recession’s legacies, airlines will be forced to shrink even more.

the story continues below>

Growing smaller means parking planes, laying off workers and dropping destinations, meaning potential customers have fewer reasons to book. Earlier this month, Delta Air Lines Inc. cited a gloomy revenue outlook for the rest of the year in its plans to cut more management jobs. If passengers don’t return to the skies and fares don’t rise, some airlines could run low on cash, raising the specter of additional bankruptcies.

Airlines are suffering huge revenue declines as customers put off purchases, trade down to cheaper fares and bank more personal income. Airlines fear that this behavior will stick, exacerbating the “new normal” the industry has been grappling with for the past eight years.

[My Eclat Coach] How can you increase your WillPower?

from www.myeclatcoach.com

Willpower for me is the ability to do the right thing, at the right time, time and time again.

It could be in the face of adversity, loss, sheer negative emotions, or in the high of a backwind.

How can you increase this power?

Think of it as a muscle.

You can build you muscle essentially by increasing the weight you exercise with or the repetitions (number of times you do the same exercise)

Now, how does that apply to willpower?

1. increase the 'ASK' you have of yourself. let this be in small increments, but nevertheless let there be an increase.
so if you wanted to write, have an incremental goal of number of words every week.
if you want to wake up in the morning, set your alarm a little early every week.

2. increase the repetition. make your willpower a natural instinct. so if you think you cant walk a kilometer, just start walking one everyday, until your body walks a kilometer like it was second nature.
do what you hate, you fear, stuff that gives you anguish. just keep doing it, till it gives way. hammer away.

start with this. see where it goes.

I have one small request.

keep promises to yourself. however small, fulfill them or let yourself free if you cant accomplish them.
either way let your mind know you are boss.

Happy Willing!

NEWS| AI to fly low-cost flights from city

The much-awaited low-cost arm of Air India will not only fly from non-metro cities but also from Mumbai and Delhi. The new business model aims to woo passengers of other low-cost carriers.

the story continues below>

A source said that all the spadework for making the Maharaja's foray into low-cost operations has been done already. The final launch is expected anytime next month. The airline plans to start flights throughout the day except peak hours.

The low-cost arm is an ambitious project as the airline is suffering massive financial losses. The decision to fly low-cost service in both non-metro and metro airports is taken to bolster the passenger load factor in all the routes.Planning to cash in on the festive season ahead, the airline has worked out competitive ticket pricing in all the routes.

According to Air India's turnaround plan, 70% of flight operations would be in the low-cost carrier mode in the coming years.

"The revenue model is being reworked and there is nothing more reliable than low-cost business model," said the source.

The RADL had submitted the highest bid - Rs.270 million (Rs.27 crore) to develop and manage Yavatmal, Nanded and Latur airports. It had also bid Rs.320 million (Rs.36 crore) - the highest, for Baramati and Osmanabad airports, according to an official spokesperson this evening.
The MIDC will also hand over a little more than 600 hectares land to RADL for a 95-year period for the development and maintenance of these five airports.
Earlier this year, the state government had opened the upgraded Latur and Nanded - the latter being a Sikh holy place - airports for launching regular commercial flights connecting Mumbai and other cities.

NEWS| Aviation's ground handling crisis

The Air India crisis continues and the next one, likely to blow up over the next few weeks, relates to the government policy on ground handling, a policy which has been kept in abeyance for two years thanks to the opposition of aviation companies. Aviation Minister Praful Patel, however, says the policy is likely to be tweaked and implemented soon.

the story continues below>

So far, a host of manpower companies have doubled up as ground handlers offering services to private airlines — though the quality wasn’t always the best, the costs were competitive. And there was Air India offering better services but at a steeper rate. All this, however, changed when the government decided it would privatise the major airports — the logic then was that ground handling facilities needed to be upgraded to international levels.
How is ground handling divided
Passenger or terminal services: This is the front-end service which includes, among other things, check-in counters, arrivals, customer services, lost baggage, airline lounges and transfers
Airside services: These include aircraft guidance, towing, low-grade maintenance, water and lavatory drainage, ground power, air conditioning, baggage handling, refuelling, aircraft dispatch and staff transport, cabin services like cleaning, among others
For the country’s six major airports as well as 35 non-metro airports, it was decided that there would be only a maximum of three operators who would provide ground handling — the airport operator (for example, DIAL in Delhi), Air India or its joint venture, and an independent ground handling company selected through competitive bidding by the airport operator (in Delhi’s case, DIAL). And, the policy envisaged, airlines would have no option but to use one of these three firms.

NEWS| GMR under scanner after Delhi airport roof collapse

Delhi International Airport Limited's brand new domestic terminal was dealt a big blow as 40 minutes of rain and strong winds ripped the roof of the new swanky airport terminal 1D.

The terminal built to weather even earthquakes and cyclones came crashing down in the storm and the management was forced to swing into action to ensure passengers were not inconvenienced.
"We called the contractor urgently. They alongside our team is reviewing the situation to understand actually how this has occurred. [My Eclat Coach] be the flame, not the moth - casanova

How to be charismatic

I read pickthebrain.com and I liked the topic he just posted on, so I am linking it here and also adding some of my ideas.

be the flame, not the moth - casanova

I realize casanova was talking about something else, but in essence the damn line is true.
charismatic people attract others and that's exactly what a flame does, so here goes:

1. Be luminous - in person, in though & in action
Well groomed, well dressed, well mannered, cultured people with thoughts that can stir and actions to match are attractive.

2. Rise above the rest
The flicker strives to reach as far above as possible. stretch yourself.

3. Illuminate others
Very rarely have I heard of a flame/a beacon/a torch being lit for itself.
illuminate the lives of others, enrich their thoughts and add value to everyone around.

4. Spread the light equally
The charismatic ones spread joy equally. everyone who comes to them or in contact with them will go back a little richer, a little charged, a little better.

5. Light another flame from yourself
Ardent followers carry a little of their leaders in them. pass on the flame, ignite the fire.

Happy Charismating!

NEWS| Jet to go in for more Airbus 330s

Jet Airways has decided to go in for more Airbus 330s, and not Boeing 777s, thanks to the aircraft’s cost-efficiencies.

the story continues below>

“The Airbus 330 is 30 per cent more cost-efficient compared with the Boeing 777. In the current economic downturn, operating a three-class configuration aircraft is tough, especially the first (class). With its two-class configuration, the Airbus makes much more sense,” said Mr Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO, Jet Airways, on the sidelines of the company’s 17th annual general meeting here on Monday.
Company sources told Business Line that while the Boeing 777’s running cost works out to approximately $13,000 an hour; that of the Airbus 330 is $9,000. Incidentally, the Airbus 330 is a 220-seater aircraft while the Boeing 777 has 312 seats.
Jet has 10 Boeing 777s and 12 Airbus 330s in its fleet of 86 aircraft. Of this, it has leased out seven Boeings and only two Airbus. It plans to lease out the remaining three Boeings in the near future.

NEWS| Private airlines pitch for ground handling duties

Private airlines, opposing the government’s proposed ground handling policy, made a strong case on Tuesday for allowing them to handle baggage and cargo carried by their aircraft, saying appointing others to do the job would increase costs and delay flights.

the story continues below>

Senior representatives of private airlines put forth their views opposing the policy at a meeting with civil aviation secretary M. Madhavan Nambiar and other top officials.
“We heard their views on ground handling policy. We will have more rounds of discussions and hold inter-ministerial consultations on the matter. The cabinet committee on security will take a final view later,” Nambiar said after the meeting.
Before the committee takes up the matter for a final decision, discussions would also be held with finance and home ministries on issues relating to security and customs.
Under the present proposal, ground handling activities at six airports of New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad are to be allowed only by the airport operators or their subsidiaries, Air India or its subsidiaries, or service providers selected through competitive bidding.

TRENDS| Airlines say business class buzzing again

Indian high flyers, who had been downgrading to economy class since last year, are now slowly returning to premium air travel as fares in that segment plunge and as they pick up positive signals from domestic and global economies.

the story continues below>

M Thiagarajan, managing director of Paramount Airways, said premium travel saw a slight upswing of 3-4% in July compared to the month before, because of overall positive business sentiment.
Jet Airways also reportedly flew more business passengers in July than in June.Air India too is seeing its premium segment grow this month, at 10% y-o-y. Jitendra Bhargava, executive director-corporate communication, attributes the rise to relatively lower fares. He said it was also partly due to lower base effect. According to International Association of Air Transport, premium travel numbers were down 21.3% in June from 23.6% in May. IATA estimates revenues from premium seats was declining at close to 40% in the same months.

TREDNS| More low-fare flights lift air traffic 21.3% in July

Capacity addition in the low-fare segment and better spending power due to stock markets climbing up led to huge recovery in demand for air travel last month with the number passengers taking to sky jumping 21.3% to 30.67 lakh from 25.29 lakh in July last year.
Industry experts said the spike in the domestic passenger traffic in July was mainly due to airlines shifting more capacity to the lower end of the fare basket. This, they said, was spurring demand.

the story continues below>

Last month also saw Naresh Goyal's Jet Airways and JetLite reclaim leading position in the market with a 26.3% share. The two airlines overtook Kingfisher Airlines, whose share dipped 1.4 percentage points to 23% in July over June.
Other airlines that cornered more market share in July were budget airlines IndiGo and GoAir, whose share increased to 14% and 5.7 from 13.6% and 5.4% respectively in June.State-owned Air India and budget carriers SpiceJet lost seven basis points and three basis points at 16.2% and 12.5% respectively. Business class airline Paramount Airways maintained market share at 2%.
In terms on-time-performance (OTM), Paramount topped at 87.6%. It was followed by IndiGo and Kingfisher Airlines with OTMs of 86.5% and 81.2% respectively. National Aviation Company of India Ltd (Nacil) has lowest OTM at 76.5%.
Jeh Wadia-owned GoAir had the lowest flight cancellation rate of 0.6% followed by Nacil, whose cancellation rate was 0.7%. Among national scheduled airlines, JetLite's cancellation rate was highest at 6.2%.

NEWS| Sun group plans to enter aviation business

Sun Network, the Chennai-based entertainment group, owned by Kalanidhi Maran, is said to be gearing up to enter the aviation sector.
According to sources, the Rs 1,106-crore Sun group is in the process of firming up a joint venture with Star Aviation, an airline promoted by the diversified Dubai-based ETA Star group.
Less than 10 days ago, the two entities were understood to have held discussions for converting Star Aviation, floated by the Dubai group, into a 50:50 joint venture that could be named as ‘Sun Star’, sources privy to the deal told ET.

the story continues below>

It is also learnt from an i-banking source that Sun Network has appointed Enam as the agency to advise on the transaction. Top sources in the ETA group also confirmed that Star Aviation has been evaluating various options to stabilise its operations. However, sources close to Sun Network promoters firmly denied any such JV move with Star.
The tie-up talk between Star and Sun comes on the back of Star Aviation’s rollout plans hitting a roadblock. Star Aviation intended to launch its commercial services as the country’s first-of-its-kind medium cost regional airline for South India early in 2009. Star holds a regional licence to commercially operate only in the four southern states. While conceptually such airlines are not permitted to fly in busy routes, especially between metropolitan cities, Star has been permitted to operate between Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.
Meanwhile, a couple of sources familiar with the development said Sun group could also consider joining the existing private airliner, Go Air, as a partner if the deal with Star does not materialise. On Wednesday, a senior official in Sun Network confirmed the group is foraying into the aviation business through the inorganic route as it is not the group's core business. However, he declined to go into further details.

NEWS| Finnair to restart Mumbai-Helsinki flights

After discontinuing its service from Mumbai to Helsinki last April, Nordic air-carrier Finnair has decided to restart the flights from October 17 with a brand new Airbus 330.

the story continues below>

Finnair, which will provide one of the shortest services to Europe will take just eight hours to complete one-way-trip between its destinations and will operate three times a week from Mumbai, the airline's director for Indian Subcontinent Kari Stolbow, told PTI.
The European airline will also operate daily flights between New Delhi and Helsinki from September against four flights operated per week earlier.
"Mumbai is India's biggest business city and the centre of business and logistics. India's most affluent population lives in the area too, so there is a major potential for tourist traffic to Europe," Stolbow said.
The plane, a brand new Airbus 330, will seat 229 people in the economy class and 42 in the business class.

NEWS| Jet Airways regains market share

Jet Airways had been going through tumultuous phase with dip in domestic travel but there has been improvement, more so in July, said its Chief Commercial Officer Sudheer Raghavan here on Thursday.

the story continues below>

Addressing media persons after announcing the launch of Hyderabad-Dubai international flight, Mr. Sudheer said last year, the airline was in the negative zone. “But thanks to some strategic and painful decisions to buck the trend, we are now in the strong positive zone”. He, however, predicted that 2010 figures would be worse than that of 2009 for the aviation sector.
Jet Airways’ market share fell to 20 per cent from 30 per cent but at present it again climbed back to 26.3 per cent as declared by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), though its revenue share remained intact. “We retained our position now as leader both in market and revenue share,” Mr. Raghavan said.
On Jet Airways Konnect, low-fare airline, he said it saw improvement in passengers but yield had come down.
