New air traffic flow system to keep flyers informed

Flight delays may soon be a thing of past. With rising air traffic, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has speeded up the process to establish an Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) system. The system, which will be installed at all important airports, will collect and monitor airlines' data system with the information provided with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) of various airports.

Jetlite flight delayed by 3 hours

A Nagpur-bound Jetlite flight with 129 passengers on board was today delayed by three hours from the airport here following a technical fault reported in the aircraft.
The airline said that the flight, which was originally scheduled at 7.05am, was rescheduled due to a technical problem.

A Jet Airways spokesperson said that the flight has been rescheduled at 10.30am.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an Assistant Vice President of Kingfisher Airlines for allegedly providing undue benefits to Manoj Malviya, additional commissioner (Security), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

Jet to lease six short-haul ATRs from Ireland firm

Jet Airways has decided to lease six short-haul ATR jets from Ireland-based Investec International. The airline will replace the same number of jets of Canadian Regional Jets (CRJ) operated by its wholly-owned subsidiary JetLite by the new aircraft. "The new aircraft will join the JetLite fleet in July-October this year. The jets would be taken on dry lease for five to six years," a Jet Airways official said.

Coimbatore airport building to be opened on Monday

The newly-constructed Coimbatore Airport terminal building with state-of-the-art modern facilities will be opened on Monday noon. Airports Authority of India (AAI) Regional Executive Director D. Devaraj and Coimbatore Airport Director M.R. Vasudeva told The Hindu that the existing terminal building could handle 150 "arrival" passengers and 150 "departure" passengers.
