Kalanithi Maran raises stake in SpiceJet to 31 pc
Sun TV founder Kalanithi Maran and his unlisted aviation firm, Kal Airways Pvt Ltd , have raised stake in low-cost carrier SpiceJet by acquiring an additional 19.37 million shares, or 4.78 percent, the airline said in a filing to the BSE on Wednesday.
AI Express to start budget domestic flights
Air India's international low-cost carrier (LCC), AI Express, is planning to launch budget domestic flights from next March, linking metros like Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata with tier II cities in the initial phase.

Varanasi airport terminal set for November launch
Lucknow: The new integrated passenger terminal of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport at Babatpur in Varanasi will become functional within a month. While the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has asked the airport administration to start operations from the new terminal from October 25, local authorities said they need a little more time, but would definitely start using it in November.
Two bird-hits in a day at Mumbai airport
On Thursday morning, two Kingfisher flights suffered from bird-hits at the Mumbai airport during landing. However, confusion prevailed as Kingfisher airlines (KFA) and Mumbai International Airport Limited (Mial) gave different flight numbers for the bird-hits.

Now, switch on your cell after landing
Air travellers can now switch on their mobile phones the moment their aircraft lands at any Indian airport and exits the active runway. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation ( DGCA) on Friday night issued a directive to airlines, asking them to announce the lifting of restriction on mobiles post-landing and allow passengers to do so latest by next Wednesday.

Kalanithi Maran’s company Kal Airways buys shares in Spicejet
Kal Airways Pvt Ltd has purchased a 5.03 per cent stake in Spicejet for an estimated Rs 91.52 Crore. Kal Airways Pvt Ltd is owned by Kalanithi Maran of Sun TV and the purchase will be made up of 19.37 million shares in SpiceJet at 47.25 Indian rupees for every share.

A day's work may vary from a long-range international flight to a sequence of shorter domestic flights. Reserve duty, in which the pilot is "on call", may also be assigned.
